		<description>Great article Randall.  Yes, the people wanted more political power and they got it with the 17th Amendment.  Problem is, they couldn&#039;t handle it.  Technically speaking, direct election of Senators by the people could work but its success relies upon the one critical element that all good government requires, that is, an educated and virtuous electorate.  With greater power comes greater responsibility.  If you can&#039;t handle the responsibility (which We The People truly cannot) then you get our current situation.  It&#039;s simply cause and effect, ya know?</description>

		<description>I try not to be a pessimist, but there are far too many people in our country who don&#039;t have much conviction, morals, or the cahonies to stand up for them. As such, I think it&#039;s depressing that our law enforcement and soldiers work so hard to support the freedoms of so many undeserving people who will either not vote, not be involved, or vote for B. H. Obama.</description>
