As I have paid attention to the news over the last few days I have found my self becoming increasingly upset. Specifically about what is going on with the members of the FLDS church. These people who believe that it is a religious order to be part of a polygamous marriage have been treated very disgracefully in my opinion.
Our country hypocritically attacks and destroys the lives of these families, separating mothers and father from their children. These are large families, with traditional conservative, moral, hardworking values (apart from their practice of polygamy) are great examples of honesty, thrift, and hard work. The state then believes that they can take better care of the children then these loving parents. “Let’s save them from this groups beliefs, because they are different then my own” says the state bureaucrats.
These same bureaucrats, lawyers and legislators spend their time and our money to fight for all sorts of moral depravity, destruction of the family and economy, peoples ability to access and transmit smut, etc. Which I guess then shouldn’t have surprised me that they would then seek to destroy what goodness and dignity that the FLDS people still have by splitting the family at it’s seams.
I am not a member of their faith, I do not practice polygamy or believe that it should be practiced. But I do believe that it my right to live my own life according to the dictates of my own conscience and that other individuals should be given the same opportunity. Let people live their lives, without requiring them to fit into your mold. Love the face that people are different. It is what gives zest to our lives.
