New Life, New Opportunity

On July 26th 2007, My dear wife gave birth to my namesake, Randall Scott Hinton II. This bundle of Joy entered our open arms making the size of our family 6. Now some might ask… “How could you bear to have 4 kids when 1 or 2 is more than I can handle?” I can understand where you are coming from. Even though our third child has been a great joy in our life, I can remember thinking. “Man these kids are crazy, who in their right mind would have so many kids?” But this new opportunity has been amazing.

Our oldest son just turned 7, and he has totally loved holding his brother and spending time with him. He (although far from perfect) has been much more responsible in the way that he treats his younger sisters, which has baffled both my wife and myself. The other children have reacted similarly, they have taken on more responsibility and are growing more as a Loving group of children rather than a crazy set of individual kids that are completely self centered. My wife indicated that it has been much easier to go shopping with 4 children than it was with 3. Because the children that would normally be pinging throughout the store seeking to put one item after another into the shopping cart, has been left with the responsibility of pushing a cart with his younger siblings in it. It’s a miracle.

So what am I saying with all of this Proud father talk? Well simply that I think that I have seen the root of the answer to all of the Juvenile Delinquency problems out there, Encourage bigger families. Help our wayward youth to experience a little bit of self reliance and responsibility. You think I am joking…I’m not…Really, Have a bigger family and see what it can do to benefit the progress of your current children.
