We live in a society that continually downplays the benefits of our families. Most of the Pundits state the statistics of Parental Abuse, Broken Homes, Fatherless Children, etc. The remains of their own broken homes. But what of the successful, engaging, and loving families. Do they no longer exist? Or is their very existence a myth? A non-existent falsehood that has been perpetuated over time, until now in the height of our intellectual discovery we find that we have another myth to debunk???
As I type this post I have been watching my two oldest children playing, for lack of a more descriptive term, “roll the brother up in a blanket like a burrito”. Which got me to start thinking about all of the joy that we experience in our family, but how negative the media is towards families. There is surely a derth of positive information/news about families. I guess understandably the headline “Mom made a beautiful dinner” or “Bobby shares his toys” probably would not sell as many newspapers. But the alternative has been so destructive to the fabric of our nation.
Fortunately Happy Families do exist, and do continue to create value in our nation. The strong families of today are creating the great leaders of tomorrow. Let’s remember that as we receive the constant buffeting by those who strive to either intentionally or unintentionally quell our desire to have awesome families.
I Love My Family!
