Stub Your Toe!

The other day I began pondering about why (over the course of the last 3 weeks) I had stubbed my toes many different times. It had been years since I could even recall another time that I had stubbed my toes. So I kept asking myself why, why do I keep stubbing my toe when I haven’t for so long. Then it occurred to me, my toes are really valuable to me. They help me to keep my balance, to run, to walk, and definitely to walk on my tippy toes. I use and rely on my toes each day. but how often to I stop to be grateful for what they do for me? When I think about it I can only say that it has probably been as long as I have gone without stubbing my toes.

This led to some further thinking. How often does this happen to me in other areas of my life. I think it is a human tendency to not appreciate things when they are in abundance, or when they are not being negatively restricted in some way. But when we have things that seem to be scarce or restricted we tend to be more appreciative of the thing/product/body part/person.

So now with this further realization I began to be grateful for the chance I had to stub my toe and become aware again of how valuable my toes are to me. Every cloud has a silver lining. I am glad that I have found it on this one. So let’s go stub our toes!
